Keep your bandage on for one
to two hours.
Wash your hands, and carefully remove bandage. Use lukewarm soapy water
to clean your tattoo. Just use your hands to gently wash and rinse the
tattoo. Pat dry.
Use an ointment such as Vitamin A&D Ointment, Bacitracin, or Tattoo
Goo on your tattoo every three or four hours for the next four days. Apply
in a thin layer so that the tattoo is always shiny, and never dry. Do
not apply too thickly or you will clog your pores and cause color to pull
out. Never use petroleum based ointments such as Neosporin, Polysporin,
Vaseline or Triple Antibiotic on your tattoo, as these are too strong,
and will cause your tattoo to fade.
After four days, or when the tattoo starts to peel, switch to an unscented
hand or body lotion such as Curel or Lubriderm to moisturize your tattoo.
Apply as often as needed so that the tattoo doesn’t dry out.
During the healing period, do not swim in chlorinated pools or hot-tubs,
or expose your tattoo to the sun. Afterwards, always make sure you apply
sunscreen to your tattoo when outdoors to prevent fading.
After about two weeks of this treatment, your tattoo should be healed.
Please feel free to call or stop by the shop if you have any questions
or concerns about your new tattoo.
